Our Level 1 ‘Dars e Nizami' course is a three-year, part-time educational programme curated specifically to equip seekers with the requisite skills and attributes required for advanced Islamic studies and Islamic scholarship.
Carefully assimilated by renowned subject experts - rooted in classical, Islamic academic rigour - this 3-year course is the first stage of our part time Alimiyyah Initiative, otherwise known as the Essential Islam Scholarship Programme.
Building upon our revolutionary ‘Dars e Nizami Feeder Course’, students will further enhance their knowledge and understanding of the Arabic language and classical Islamic sciences, as they are exposed to intermediate level texts in a variety of disciplines. Thus, paving the way to broader and more advanced studies.

Who is This Course For
This course is ideal for those wanting a flexible and relevant part-time alimiyyah programme that allows students to learn classical Islamic Studies, whilst developing critical thinking and a deep understanding of the primary sources of Islam.
Admissions Requirements
Admission for all Essential Islam courses are administered by our course facilitation team. Applications for the ‘Dars e Nizami Academy’ must be submitted through our online portal: simply click the 'enrol now' button and fill out the application form.
No previous experience is needed. Students are able to enrol onto this programme (at this level) directly, conditional to having a real passion and desire to learn their religion in order to benefit their local and wider communities.
Attendance is mandatory, students risk being withdrawn from the programme for a lack of commitment (see our terms and conditions for more details).
Cohorts and Deadlines
The programme is offered once per year. The next cohort starts in September 2021.
Early Admission Deadline: 30th August 2021.
We encourage applications to be submitted before the early deadline, as we anticipate a high volume of applications for this course.
The aim of this course is to produce future scholars and leaders who will serve the Muslim community with excellence and sincerity.
Curriculum
The ‘Dars i Nizami Academy' is an on-going part-time programme, delivered and structured over three years. Each teaching year is split into 35 weeks, with 4-5 hours of on-demand teaching a week that is supported by 2 hours of live classes. This equates to 630 total hours of teaching.
Core specialisations are focused on developing comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Islamic law and theology, whilst also immersing students into the nuances of the Arabic language, all whilst preparing them for more advanced studies and Islamic scholarship.
This is a live Virtual Learning course which is supported by distance learning resources, weekly live classes led by academic instructors, personal 1-2-1 academic tutor assistance, and a dedicated student liaison team.

Master Classes From Qualified Teachers
Shaykh Mufti Wajid Iqbal descends from a noble family of scholars. Most notably, his mother’s uncle was the honourable Shaykh Mufti Abdul Hakim, the Grand Mufti of Kashmir.
Under traditional tutelage, Shaykh Mufti Wajid has completed all aspects of the highly revered ‘Dars-i-Nizami’ curriculum; remarkably never missing a class of sacred knowledge over a 11 year period, which culminated in being authorised in iftah at the age of 27.
As well as being the founder and head principal at Essential Islam, Shaykh Mufti Wajid is an Imam at the Jamiyat Tabligh-ul-Islam Victor Street Masjid, as well as a Friday prayer preacher at the Bradford Central Mosque. He has been teaching all aspects and levels of the Islamic sciences in Bradford and further afield for well over a decade, whilst also being a stand bearer for spirituality in the local and wider community.
Master Classes From Qualified Teachers
Ustadh Mohammed Wahid Akhtar spent 12 months in Syria, where he studied Arabic language at the University of Damascus Language Centre.
He has a Masters in Pharmacy from Liverpool John Moore’s University, and is presently studying oncopharmacology and pharmaceutics the University of Bradford.
Ustadh Wahid is currently studying the highly revered ‘Dars-i-Nizami’ curriculum with Shaykh Mufti Wajid Iqbal, whilst also studying with Syrian Ulema online.
Our campus is based at the stunning Victor Street Masjid, a vibrant hub for our teaching, research, and collaboration. Sessions take place in the upstairs classrooms which have been recently renovated.

On a very limited budget, our small team of hard-working volunteers have brought benefit to over 37 million people around the world. We have also been fortunate enough to raise of £1,700,000 for charity to help our fellow Muslims in different parts of the world.

You guys have been wonderful throughout this journey and although we’re many, many miles apart you have made me feel as though I am sitting in front of the Ustaad each lesson. I have not come across such a professional set up - and I am honestly not just saying this! From the pre-lesson notifications, to the live set-up, notifications during and after the lessons and regular check-ins. We probably don’t recognise how much of your time and effort goes into this behind the scenes. Our teachers are wonderful and so inspiring. I love each lesson and pray this journey continues.
